OTLA congratulates this year's student winners of the OTLA Cup competition March 5, 2012 – University of Western Ontario law student Julie Menten was the big winner at this year’s OTLA Cup Competition. Hosted by the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, the annual OTLA Cup competition provides law students with a unique opportunity to develop and demonstrate their advocacy skills in the courtroom environment. OTLA in the news: President Paul Harte responds to IBC's letter to the editor Sept. 16, 2011 – Read OTLA President Paul Harte's response to a letter written by the Insurance Bureau of Canada's spokesperson in today's edition of the Kingston Whig-Standard. OTLA has commented on recent articles by Toronto Sun columnist Alan Shanoff calling for closer scrutiny of the auto insurance industry.

OTLA presses FSCO on review of catastrophic impairment While the government has not yet announced details for the anticipated review of the definition of catastrophic impairment, we continue to press the Financial Services Commission of Ontario and the Minister of Finance to ensure that important policy considerations are taken into consideration.Click here to read OTLA President Dale Orlando's letter to FSCO's Superintendent of Financial Services.
OTLA speaks out against biased media coverage A recent opinion piece in the Toronto Star’s “Wheels” section took aim at the legal profession and third party claims, citing skyrocketing litigation costs as “another reason the system needs fixing.” Naturally, we could not let that stand without some comment from OTLA. OTLA’s Helmets on Kids program honoured with award The important work of OTLA members involved in our Helmets on Kids program was recently honoured by the Ontario Brain Injury Association with their Fellowship Award. Read more
