Todd Hein, Lockyer + Hein LLP
Over the years, Todd has assisted many individuals, as well as small, medium and large companies. With strong interpersonal skills, Todd prides himself on connecting with clients for a relationship of strength. Having significant experience to draw upon, Todd is committed to providing clients with insightful and reasoned advice, empowering clients to make informed decisions. Practical in his approach to litigation, Todd strategically plans cost-effective but fair ways of resolving matters for all of his clients. Serving his clients’ interests, Todd looks closely for opportunities for resolution, and has successfully mediated dozens of cases. For cases that do not resolved amiably, Todd has the experience to take his clients’ matters to court, including trial, with confidence, and he has appeared at all levels of Ontario Courts, including the Superior Court, the Divisional Court, and the Court of Appeal.
Outside of the office, Todd enjoys skiing, golf and running, as well as participating in different community and charitable endeavours.
Mahzulfah Uppal, Lockyer + Hein LLP
Mahzulfah is an associate lawyer practicing in family law. Mahzulfah has extensive experience in a variety of areas of family law. Following her graduation from Law school, Mahzulfah spent one year in Winnipeg, Manitoba working with Legal Aid. While in Winnipeg, Mahzulfah acted as a student at law in the areas of family law; young offenders; criminal law; landlord and tenant law; employment insurance appeals; social assistance review board appeals; and community outreach programs. Her work at Legal Aid was a rewarding experience as it contributed to helping the disadvantaged citizens of Winnipeg and its surrounding community.
Mahzulfah returned to Ontario in 1995 where she articled with the Ministry of the Attorney General Office, Family Support Plan, and provided excellent litigation and research services for the Province of Ontario to enforce child and spousal support orders. Upon her call to the Bar in Ontario in 1997, Mahzulfah opened her practice, and worked in the areas of family law exclusively.
In 2003, Mahzulfah joined the team at Prouse, Dash & Crouch, LLP. Mahzulfah has successfully represented her clients in both the Superior and Ontario Courts of Justice. She has successfully argued several motions for her clients over the years. In addition, she has been very effective in settling many of her cases in and out of court to ensure her clients reach resolutions that work for them and their families in a cost effective manner.
Ruchira Kulkarni, Lockyer + Hein LLP
Ruchira is an associate lawyer practicing family law. Ruchira completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Waterloo where she received her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Arts and Business in 2011. Ruchira received her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa’s English Common Law Program in 2015.
Prior to being called to the Ontario bar in 2016, Ruchira articled with a boutique firm in Toronto providing legal services in family law and estate litigation. Following her articles, Ruchira enjoyed a significant amount of litigation experience working as a criminal defence lawyer in Toronto. Ruchira has represented clients at various levels of courts including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice, and the Ontario Court of Appeal. Ruchira’s experience in criminal law allows her to manage the impact of criminal proceedings on family matters.
Ruchira dedicates her practice to all areas of family law including property disputes, child and spousal support, and custody and access matters. Ruchira is focused on achieving practical yet meaningful solutions for her clients at the earliest opportunity so that they can move forward with their lives. Ruchira’s client-centred approach is complemented by her litigation experience, which allows her to effectively resolve matters both in and out of court.
When Ruchira is not working, she enjoys landscape photography and yoga.
