Brian Simo, Ross & McBride LLP
Brian was raised in Fenwick, Ontario, a town too small to contain a Tim Hortons, before making the move to the “big city” of Kingston to obtain his degree in Life Sciences at Queens University in 2005. After a brief sojourn travelling and teaching in East Asia, he had a successful career as a Case Manager with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board in Toronto, before entering law school and completing his J.D. at Queen’s University in 2013.
Brian’s practice encompasses all aspects of injury, disability and insurance law, including motor vehicle accidents, WSIB injuries, long-term disability disputes, life insurance denials, slip and fall injuries, fatalities, nursing home negligence and various government benefit disputes. From his prior experience, he is intimately familiar with the process of administrative decision making and administrative tribunals, and is equally comfortable helping clients navigate their litigation through various level of Court.
Brian is a proud member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and Hamilton Law Association, and feels strongly about contributing to the development of the legal community. In addition to his law practice, over the past 6 years, Brian has regularly lectured as part-time faculty in the Paralegal Studies program at Mohawk College on the topics of Evidence, Torts and Litigation.
In addition to practicing law, Brian can regularly be found hiking with his wife and two young children. During the recent pandemic, his family have become connoisseurs of local conservation areas, and he has recently undertaken to hike the length of the Bruce Trail in a thinly veiled attempt to feel young again. He has been known from time to time to conduct conference calls from a forest.
