Summary

This webinar will explore the many complexities surrounding mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) in efforts to better inform the legal community so that they may navigate this injury with more confidence. The discussion will address various topics including:

1) who is actually allowed to make the diagnosis of mTBI ;
2) method of diagnosing mTBI (what is useful and what is not);
3) understanding how and why mTBI is handled in hospital emergency rooms ;
4) understanding recovery patterns of mTBI and how to handle the case from a legal standpoint;
5) the impact of psychological and somatic symptoms on mTBI;
6) use of terminology (the difference between post-concussional syndrome and persistent symptoms following mTBI); and
7) appropriate guidelines with respect to treatment of mTBI.
